THE TEACUP YORKIE MYTH!!!

T Cup yorkie, Teacup yorkie, Purse Puppy, Micro Mini's Yorkshire, Miniature yorkie and teacup Yorkshire Terriers do not exist!

There is no such thing as a teacup or t cup Yorkshire Terrier. The teacup myth was concocted by backyard breeders and puppymills as a ploy for making money, saying these are "special" breeds. The CKC says a Yorkshire Terrier can be up to 7 pounds. You simply have a very small dog, with the exception of the "standard." A tiny yorkie baby that is fragile, prone to health problems and often nothing but a heartbreak waiting to happen. A yorkie shouldn't be a frail nervous little dog yet these little ones tend to be just that! The well bred Yorkshire Terrier "yorkie" is a proud, high spirited, exciting little terrier who thinks it's as big as a Great Dane.

Some unethical breeders take 2 poor little runts and breed them hoping to get a smaller dog producing unhealthy little babies. They will sale these poor pups for large amounts of money.

The Canadian Kennel Club, is concerned that these terms may be used to entice perspective buyers into thinking that puppies described in this way are of greater monetary value. They are not; and the use of these terms is incorrect and misleading.
None of the Kennel club endorse or condone the use of any of these terms and would caution the perspective puppy buyer not to be misled by them. To attach any of these additional labels to a particular pup is to misrepresent that animal as something that is rare or exceptional and causes a great deal of confusion among those fanciers who are looking for a Yorkshire Terrier.

Occasionally, within a litter, there may be a puppy that is unusually small. That puppy is a small/tiny yorkie and any other breakdown in description is not correct. If a small puppy is healthy and well adjusted, adoption shouldn’t be a problem. These tiny puppies do require more time, more care and more frequent vet checks so most breeders will price them higher but it shouldn't be few thousands more!
